Flutterby Interiors has recently opened in Old Town. Like most people’s homes, this store features a mix of new and vintage furniture and accessories, with a focus on repurposed items. Owner Sherri MacDonald has 20 years of experience as an interior designer, and she especially loves “turning icky stuff into cool stuff.” She has transformed rakes into wall hooks, old doors into chalkboards, and wine bottles into works of art.
MacDonald chose to open her business in Old Town because she wants to be involved in the area’s many events, to give back to the community, and to be part of the “big picture” when it comes to revitalization.
MacDonald, along with Alli Mitchell, Flutterby’s artist, invite people to come to the store with items that they would like to repurpose, noting that repurposing both keeps things from being thrown away and gives them character. When a project involves paint, they only use top-quality Annie Sloan Chalk Paints. Soon, they will offer do-it-yourself and demonstration classes for adults, as well as Wee Can Do It classes for kids.
Flutterby Interiors is located in Old Town at 206 E. Main Street. It is open Monday—Friday from 10am—6pm. For more information, call 803-412-8880 or visit the website: flutterbyinteriors.blogspot.com
